3rd March, 2022
As the market leading provider of environmental services to corporate and commercial clients in the UK, we are proud to have won Acquisition International's ‘Best Risk Management and Environmental Services Firm 2022 - UK’. Lucion Group’s Chief Technical Officer Ross Boulton provides a unique insight into Lucion’s operations and future aspirations for the business.
Operating for over 20 years, our focus has been the safe management of hazardous materials and environmental protection services. Since starting out in 2002, we have tasked ourselves to operate and provide services that best serve our clients, reducing risks to their organisations, communities and environment. It is from this notion our mission, to Protect People and Planet, was founded.
In 2019 we, Lucion Services, completed a Management Buy Out (MBO) by Private Equity Investors, Palatine and appointed a new CEO, Phil Rozier. Phil initially joined the company in 2005 as a Regional Manager and worked his way up to become a Director of the company, setting up Lucion’s marine and offshore division in 2008 and further establishing the company’s international presence with the opening of Lucion’s Singapore office in 2013. With over 17 years in the environmental services industry, he is recognised for his expertise and experience. Having spoken at global events including Trade Winds, Phil is a trusted industry thought leader who has been instrumental in guiding the business through 9 acquisitions.
Under his leadership, the team at Lucion have continued to grow. With influence from one of our most recent acquisitions, Delta-Simons trusted providers of environmental, health and safety consultancy and solutions for sustainable development, the focus on our Environmental Social and Governance (ESG) goals have come front and centre to our operations.
Our community knows that the work we do means something. We are aware of our responsibility when we deliver our services, no matter what area of the business we operate in, and the direct impact on our clients, making a difference in their lives and businesses. Acting swiftly, decisively, and always with social impact at the heart of decision making, we build long lasting, sustainable relationships throughout our client base. Our decisions are guided by our core values and our mission to protect people and the planet.
The past two years for our team have been a careful balancing act of managing short term pressures against our medium and long term objectives. In spite of these challenges, we have continued to excel at what we do and furthermore have continued to significantly grow. One example of our growth during the past 12 months is the acquisition of two new companies since April 2021;
The Lucion Group now has more than 500 employees, the majority of whom are field-based technical specialists with skillsets in 50+ environmental consultancy services, including hazardous materials, ecology, air and water services, geo-environmental and sustainability among others.
Now in its fifth year, the Global Excellence Awards are the flagship program of Acquisition International magazine, a digital business publication with an international circulation of 108,500+ corporate professionals and c-level decision makers.
Winners are selected through a merit-based system, via research carried out by an impartial team rather than external nominations. Acquisition International’s criteria requires that there is evidence of significant achievements and a clear commitment to innovation in a given field, for a company to pass the shortlisting stage and be named as a winner. The 2022 Global Excellence Awards recognise and reward business excellence across all sectors.
Business success can be defined in a multitude of ways and can be found in all locations, regardless of industry. Despite the difficulties of the past 2 years, companies still innovate, create and experiment with new ideas every day. Some have achieved growth in the face of immense turbulence, others have honed an expert team that delivers customer satisfaction every day.
For Lucion, winning ‘Best Risk Management and Environmental Services Firm 2022 - UK’ is another demonstration to our clients that we are a trusted, reliable supplier of environmental services.
As we look to the future, our community is determined to see a positive change in the landscape of our business.
Chief Executive Officer of the Lucion Group, Phil Rozier, shared his outlook for the coming year;
“2022 will see us invest in our 'beyond carbon neutral' objectives. By December 2022, we will not only have offset our current carbon production, but we'll also continue to limit our carbon production where possible, and aim to offset not only what's leftover, but an additional 50% of the output.
In order to achieve this mission, we have developed our capabilities to extend our current service offering of accredited and certified hazardous material inspection, testing, and consultancy, delivering holistic and trusted risk management. This coming year will see the 'Going Live' of our laboratory extension. For our clients, current and new, our laboratory service offerings will grow exponentially, allowing us to offer additional testing services to our clients, without the burden of additional suppliers and their travel and resource requirements. In doing so, our clients gain added value, from a supplier they trust, that limits our carbon footprint through our enhanced service offering.”
