Dave Cooper Announced As Newly Appointed Managing Director Of Assessment Services

Taking the helm for our Assessment Services in June 2023, we are pleased to announce Dave Cooper as Managing Director - Assessment, Delta-Simons Ltd and Ground Engineering Ltd. Following his appointment, Dave will be looking to provide his immediate attention to the long-term commercial strategy and growth plans.

Dave joined Lucion back in 2016, as a result of our acquisition of Redhills, where he had held a number of roles and was operating as Head of Market Development. The acquisition led to Dave being promoted to Commercial Director and in this role, he was instrumental in the smooth integration of the Redhills team and clients into Lucion. 

Dave holds a wealth of experience and in previous roles has been responsible for managing teams of consultants; operations managers; business development managers, account managers and account directors. Previous leadership roles have involved designing and implementing business strategies and budgets and ensuring that strategy is communicated to stakeholders at all levels. 20 years of experience as a consultant operating in numerous sectors has led Dave to have a strong focus on people management, commercial delivery and management (including business development and account management). Dave is also qualified in aspects of health, safety and hazardous materials consultancy as well as in technical auditing.

More recently, Dave has been operating in the role of Group Commercial Director, and through this role, he has created a strong relationship with the Assessment Senior Leadership Team and wider group and developed a greater understanding of the service offerings and nuances of work delivered by his vertical, which will aid him greatly in the transition into this role. 

Speaking of the role, Dave said: 

“I am absolutely thrilled to be given the opportunity to work with such a great bunch of people during this period of consolidation. In my previous role as Group Commercial Director, the past six to twelve months have allowed me to work closely with the various leadership and management teams in Assessment. More recently I have been lucky enough to get to know more about the teams that deliver the various consultancy services we offer through the Divisions within Assessment. A standout item for me so far is the passion that people have in delivering exceptionally on behalf of our fortunate clients. 

Obviously, it is still early days but I would like to highlight that on a personal note, I am looking forward in the short term to working with the leadership team, reviewing our business plan and simplifying our approach. Wherever possible this will take note of recent feedback received from the Vertical. I am confident that this will allow us to identify a number of initiatives that will help us to continue the very recent trend of improvement and to move forward collectively and collaboratively throughout the remainder of the 2023/2024 financial year and beyond.

The past 5 years have seen Lucion Group, the parent company of Delta-Simons, onboard 6 businesses into the Group encompassing 400+ service lines. In September 2022, we announced a strategic business alignment presenting our three operational service areas; Inspection, Assessment, and Advisory.

Inspection - Headed up by Managing Director Jeremy Meredith, our Inspection team provides all our on-site hazardous material testing and surveying services in the built environment, facilitated by our in-house laboratories.

Assessment - Headed up by Managing Director Dave Cooper, Assessment includes all our services relating to ground investigation, geoenvironmental, geotechnical and contaminated land services.

Advisory - Headed up by Managing Director Damian Robinson, our Advisory services include all of our consultancy services across the group including our Environment, Health, Safety (EHS) and Sustainability services, Environmental Social Governance (ESG), Environmental Planning and Environmental Transaction Services.

This change occurs following Alex Ferguson, Group Managing Director and Interim Managing Director (Assessment) at Delta-Simons Ltd, stepping down.
