UK market leaders in scientific and environmental testing, inspection and management solutions, the Lucion Group, backed by Palatine Private Equity, has acquired Aberdeen Radiation Protection Services (ARPS) Ltd, in a strategic deal that strengthens its capabilities in the energy sector.

Skilled members of the ARPS team join Lucion, completing its second acquisition in 9 months, strengthening Lucion’s position as a leading provider of a comprehensive suite of value-added environmental, health and safety risk management and consultancy services.

Who are Aberdeen Radiation Protection Services (ARPS)

Established in 2001, ARPS provides comprehensive and cost-effective radiation protection services to a wide range of internationally operating industrial and non-industrial companies.

Specialists in providing Radiation Protection advice, Radioactive Waste advice and Dangerous Goods Safety advice and training to customers to the Energy sector, ARPS also serves the waste management industry including Naturally Occurring Radioactive Material (NORM) decontamination and final disposal sites, vets, teaching/research faculties, and local authorities.

Adam Mead, Managing Director of Testing & Inspection at Lucion said: “The ARPS team has established an excellent reputation in the sector over the last two decades and their expertise, knowledge and contacts in the marketplace are welcome additions to the broad range of services we currently provide.

“Their capabilities complement the work we are already undertaking in the Nuclear sector and I am looking forward to working with the team as we continue to grow and provide a best-in-class range of environmental risk management services to our clients.”

Matt Brodie, Managing Director of Aberdeen Radiation Protection Services said: “ARPS has built a strong reputation for providing high-quality radiation protection services to clients in the UK and abroad. Despite recent challenges presented by a global pandemic we never stood still, and when presented with the opportunity to join a progressive market leader like the Lucion group of companies, our team immediately recognised the synergies and saw it is a fantastic opportunity for ARPS to continue to develop its strategy and vision of delivering first-class services in a modern format while expanding into new locations and markets – an exciting prospect indeed for 2022.”

CEO of Lucion, Phil Rozier, added “When Palatine Private Equity supported our management buy-out in 2019, our collective plan was to continue to grow organically while also taking opportunities to expand and enhance our service offering through mergers and acquisitions. On the back of the acquisition of Delta-Simons earlier this year and strong organic growth throughout 2021, it is fantastic to end the year by welcoming the ARPS team into Lucion and continue with that strategic vision.”

“Going into 2022 we will look to continue our strategic growth plan. We have good visibility over continued organic growth and have a strong pipeline of further acquisitions under consideration.

What does this mean for the Lucion Group?

The Group comprises Lucion Services, a market-leading provider of hazardous materials management services, Delta-Simons, an established multi-disciplinary environmental and health and safety consultancy providing trusted advice and solutions for sustainable development, and now ARPS, specialist radiation protection service providers.

With a nationwide presence, and a global footprint through Delta-Simons membership of the Inogen Alliance, the Lucion Group now has more than 500 employees operating across more than 20 specialist sectors including Utilities, Real Estate, Nuclear, Technology, Marine and Development.

As a growing group of companies, the Lucion Group is purpose driven to protect people from environmental hazards, through environmentally sustainable practises, building long-term trusted partnerships that benefit clients, colleagues and the planet. ARPS Ltd's work in radiation protection and strong client and people values is a natural fit for the Lucion Group.
