Lucion Group
2nd March, 2022
Since the acquisition of environmental consultancy specialists Delta-Simons in April 2021, our position as one of the industry leaders in hazardous materials and environmental management has gone from strength to strength. As a group we now serve over 1500 clients across 20 different industries. During our growth, we have always acted with social impact at the heart of our decision making, with the aim of building long lasting, sustainable relationships with our community and clients.
Over the past 12 months, Delta-Simons and Lucion Services have raised a total of £6498 for Alzheimer’s Research UK (ARUK). On the 6th March 2022, 25 members of the Lucion Group community will be participating in the Cambridge Half Marathon with the aim of collectively raising vital funds for our chosen charity partner Alzheimer’s Research UK (ARUK) - an incredible charity that is working to reduce the effects of dementia through research.
Founded in 1992, ARUK is the UK's leading dementia research charity with 15 centres of research excellence throughout the UK, supporting hundreds of scientists, dedicated to researching causes, diagnosis, prevention, treatment, and cure of dementia. They are on a mission to bring about the first life-changing dementia treatment by 2025 with a vision of a world where people are free from the fear, harm and heartbreak of dementia.
Our charity partner, ARUK, was selected based on personal links to our people within the business and their alignment with our own mission to protect people and planet. Our community at the Lucion Group has a responsibility to foster positive social and environmental progress. An integral part of this is supporting local community events, which includes our three-year commitment to the Cambridge Half Marathon through Delta-Simons as sustainability partner to the Cambridge Half Marathon.
Our company, Delta-Simons has been the sustainability partner to the Cambridge Half Marathon for several years and last year announced a minimum three-year commitment to the event. Our partnership is supported by One Step Beyond (OSB) Events - the organiser and promoter of the event in Cambridge which sees Delta-Simons, Sustainability Partner, as a specialist environmental consultant, developing an Environment and Social Governance (ESG) Strategy for the Cambridge Half Marathon.
Our role as sustainability partner is to ensure that the event continues to include the highest possible ESG standards set out in the ESG policy and makes a positive contribution to Cambridge and the wider environment.
As part of the partnership, Delta-Simons is supporting a number of initiatives which includes, working with Greater Cambridge Waste and the City Council Streetcare Team to ensure a closed loop recycling scheme for the plastic cups at the event, installing clothing bins on Midsummer Common to donate leftover clothing items to charity, and providing reusable goodie bags to reduce the event’s carbon footprint.
Alex Ferguson, Managing Director of Delta-Simons and Inogen Alliance Board Member commented;
“This is the second year that Delta-Simons and Lucion Services will come together to support ARUK during the Cambridge Half Marathon. Our community in the Lucion Group are acutely aware that what we do as an organisation truly matters. I am delighted that we’re the Sustainability Partner for the Cambridge Half Marathon.
A number of the team have sadly been personally impacted by Alzheimer’s or other age related diseases, so the work of our chosen charity partner ARUK for this event is a cause close to all of our hearts.”
Adam Moffat, Direct at OSB Events commented on the continued sustainability partnership with Delta-Simons;
“After the success of our 2021 event series, we are excited to keep working with Delta-Simons as our Sustainability Partner for the Cambridge Half Marathon whilst also supporting the growth of our Outlaw Triathlon Series.
With the support of Delta-Simons we have committed to fully analysing the environmental impact of all our events. Making use of the ESG Policy to set and achieve manageable goals.
We are delighted yet again to welcome such a strong group of Delta-Simons & Lucion employees to raise money for an important charity for them.”
With influence from our company Delta-Simons, trusted providers of environmental, health and safety consultancy and solutions for sustainable development, the focus for the Lucion Group’s Environmental Social and Governance (ESG) goals have come front and centre to our operations.
Hazel Gillings, Lucion Group’s ESG Lead has been undertaking benchmarking assessments and materiality assessments for the business showing us our strengths, positive impact areas, and opportunities for improvement. Our ESG goals for 2022 and beyond are;
The Lucion Group community recognises the benefits of fundraising for charities close to our hearts, and the positive impact of giving back to the communities we work in.
Avid runner Eloise Bull, ESG and ETS Graduate at Delta-Simons, took part in the Cambridge Half Marathon last year, her first-ever official race. Eloise commented on this year's run;
“This year I’m looking forward to participating for the second time in the Cambridge Half Marathon with my Delta-Simons and Lucion colleagues. Having been involved in the organisation and full training plan this year, I’ve had a unique insight into some of the work that goes into an event like this, and I am really looking forward to seeing it all come together on the day.
Overall, it is just a lovely excuse to spend the day in a beautiful city with some lovely people for a good cause.”
We would like to thank everyone who has supported us with a donation this year. If you haven’t had a chance to donate, there’s still time. Phil Rozier, Chief Executive Officer commented on Lucion’s participation in the event;
“I am immensely proud of our team for joining forces once again to support ARUK and the Cambridge Half Marathon event organisers. The passion and drive towards fulfilling our ESG goals demonstrates our shared values across the group, supporting a range of community projects.
Since the onboarding of the Delta-Simons team, there has been a cultural shift towards enabling positive changes in the landscape of our business. 2022 will see us further progress towards our social responsibility goals.”
