We are very pleased to share that Principal Geoenvironmental Consultant, Harry Whittle has been shortlisted for the ‘Best Early Career Brownfield Professional’ Award at the Environment Analyst Brownfield Awards 2022.
About the Awards
The annual Brownfield Awards, now in their 18th year, bring the brownfield community together to celebrate the excellent work undertaken by organisations and project partnerships, through the use of innovative techniques, awareness of sustainability, engagement of stakeholders and demonstration of best practice.
The ‘Best Early Career Brownfield Professional’ Award aims to showcase those who have shown innovation, business acumen and exceptional leadership within the Brownfield sector. Entrants with up to 7 years experience of working within the sector will be judged on all round ability, not only on academic and work-related achievements but also their enthusiasm for work within the brownfield industry.
About Harry Whittle
Harry graduated from the University of Derby with a BSc in Geology, where he was voted President of the Student Union Geological Society during the last year of his studies. He is also a Fellow of the Geological Society of London, working toward becoming a Chartered Geologist.
Since joining Delta-Simons, Harry has played a key part in many internal initiatives with Unit Director Simon Steele, commenting, “Harry has been actively engaged in the Delta-Simons mentoring and buddy programs, and is heavily involved with the training, support, and inspiring of new graduates and junior members of staff through both formal training, line management, and project involvement. As part of the rapid growth of the Delta-Simons Geoenvironmental team, Harry has been at the forefront in the implementation of Digital strategies, striving to deliver technical improvements to the way we deliver brownfield investigation and assessment.”
Projects Harry has been involved with include small to large scale ground investigations, environmental and geotechnical assessments, ground gas protective measure quality assurance, ground gas DQRA, due diligence, appraisals and oil spill incident response.
Geoenvironmental Associate, John Rhoades, commented, “Harry is a fantastic representative of our industry, whether liaising with directors in client organisations, members of the public, or students interested in finding out more about pursuing a career in earth sciences. At the same time remaining a well-grounded individual, recognising the support from colleagues, and always willing to learn.”
This year's awards ceremony will be taking place on 13 October 2022 at the Leonardo Royal Hotel London Tower Bridge - Good luck Harry!
