Trees are an invaluable asset, providing environmental, ecological, and aesthetic benefits to any development project. Lucion’s team of qualified arboriculturists are here to help you navigate the complexities of tree protection and management, ensuring your development remains compliant with relevant legislation and industry best practice.
Lucion’s arboriculture services cover the full lifecycle of tree-related considerations, from pre-development surveys and impact assessments through to on-site monitoring and long-term management planning. Our experienced team works closely with clients, architects, and local planning authorities to identify opportunities for tree retention and integration, while also managing any necessary removals or mitigation.
Our key arboriculture services include:
Tree Surveys (BS5837:2012)
Our arboriculturists conduct detailed tree surveys in line with the British Standard BS5837:2012, assessing the size, condition, and constraints of all trees within the site boundary and up to 15m beyond. We also liaise with the Local Planning Authority to determine any Tree Preservation Orders or conservation area designations.
Arboricultural Impact Assessments (AIA)
Our Arboricultural Impact Assessments evaluate the potential effects of your development proposals on the existing tree population. We provide details on mitigating adverse impacts, including indicative protection measures, and produce an Arboricultural Impact Plan to inform the design process.
Arboricultural Method Statements (AMS)
Once planning permission is granted, our team will prepare an Arboricultural Method Statement covering the technical details of tree protection measures, including specifications for fencing, excavation techniques, and the handling of materials. Adherence to the AMS is often a condition of planning consent.
Arboricultural Supervision and Site Monitoring
During the construction phase, our arboriculturists will provide regular on-site supervision to ensure the approved tree protection measures are correctly implemented. We will monitor activities like excavation works within Root Protection Areas and the installation of new hard surfacing.
Tree Preservation Order (TPO) Applications and Advice
Lucion’s arboriculturists can act on your behalf when applying for works to trees protected by a TPO or within a Conservation Area. We can assess the trees, provide the Local Planning Authority with a detailed report, and advise on the best approach to secure the necessary approvals.
Woodland Surveys and Management Plans
Whether you’re managing an existing woodland or planning new planting schemes, our team can prepare comprehensive management plans covering aspects like species selection, natural regeneration, thinning regimes, and enhancing wildlife value.
By partnering with Lucion, you can be confident that your development project will satisfy all relevant arboricultural requirements, from pre-planning surveys through to post-construction monitoring. Our team’s expertise, combined with their collaborative approach, ensures trees are effectively integrated into the design and planning process, delivering successful outcomes for both your development and the local environment.
