Testimonials

Lucion Delta-Simons Ltd took on a hopelessly muddled attempt at remediation coupled with very difficult relations between contractors and the regulatory authorities and quickly introduced clarity and coherence to the situation.  Their advice was succinct and to the point and yet detailed enough to satisfy the regulators. A seemingly intractable situation was resolved quickly, and without fuss allowing us to get on with the development.

Quite simply, we could not have made the progress we have achieved at Leafbridge without the support of Lucion Delta-Simons Ltd. They were a fundamental part of the team in the process that delivered us a planning consent for the site and have provided ongoing support through the discharge of planning conditions and detailed design activities. Their greatest strength has to be their responsiveness. If we uncover an issue on site, we know that by making one call they will be able to quickly send someone to site who will provide professional support and assistance.

Jo Flattery Associate Director & Project Management

Pinnacle sought a partner rather than simply a consultancy service provider. We looked for an organisation that listened carefully to our needs and ideas and provided a choice of added-value solutions. We have been impressed with Lucion Delta-Simons Ltd ability to work closely with us to develop solutions that enable us to consistently deliver against our Client’s objectives.

Geo-Environmental Assessments FAQ

A Phase 2 geo-environmental assessment is typically triggered by the findings of a Phase 1 Desk Study, which may identify potential contamination risks, geotechnical hazards, or data gaps that require further investigation. Other triggers for a Phase 2 assessment may include regulatory requirements, due diligence or risk management needs, changes in site use or development plans, identification of sensitive receptors, or uncertainty regarding the site’s history, geology, or environmental setting.

A Phase 2 geo-environmental assessment typically includes intrusive site investigations, laboratory chemical analysis and geotechnical testing of soil and groundwater samples, refinement of the conceptual site model, detailed quantitative risk assessments, geotechnical assessments and interpretations, remediation options appraisal, and comprehensive reporting and risk communication.

A Phase 1 Desk Study is a preliminary assessment that relies on readily available information to identify potential contamination risks and geotechnical hazards qualitatively. In contrast, a Phase 2 geo-environmental assessment is an intrusive investigation that involves the collection of site-specific quantitative data to refine the conceptual site model and enable detailed risk assessments and geotechnical evaluations.

Combining geo-environmental and geotechnical investigations in a Phase 2 assessment offers benefits such as cost and time savings, improved data quality and consistency, enhanced understanding of the relationships between contamination, geology, and geotechnical properties, optimised site investigation design, streamlined project management, and reduced disruption to site operations or neighbouring properties.

The next steps after a Phase 2 geo-environmental assessment will depend on the findings and recommendations of the assessment but may include remediation design and implementation, geotechnical design and specification, additional targeted investigations or monitoring, regulatory liaison and approvals, preparation of detailed design and construction plans, implementation of long-term monitoring or management plans, and progression to the next stages of the development process.

Our dedicated Ground Engineering team provide guidance and support throughout the entire process, ensuring that geo-environmental and geotechnical risks are effectively managed and mitigated.

Lucion’s Phase 2 geo-environmental assessment services can benefit your project by providing robust, reliable, and site-specific data to inform decision-making and risk management, identifying and quantifying potential risks and hazards, supporting regulatory compliance and planning applications, enabling the development of a detailed conceptual site model and risk assessment, providing expert advice and recommendations, facilitating stakeholder engagement and risk communication, and helping to minimise project delays, cost overruns, and environmental liabilities.
