Soils Chemical Testing FAQs

If soils chemical testing reveals the presence of contaminants on your land, it’s essential to engage with experienced professionals to develop an appropriate risk management and remediation strategy. Lucion’s team of Geo-Environmental and Geotechnical Consultants can provide expert guidance on next steps, including further testing, risk assessment, remediation options, and regulatory compliance. Our team works closely with you to develop tailored solutions that address your specific challenges and ensure the safety of your stakeholders and the environment.

Lucion’s soils chemical testing services provide accurate and reliable data on the presence and concentration of contaminants in your soil samples. This information is essential for complying with the LCRM guidance and other relevant regulations, as it enables you to assess the risks associated with contaminated land and develop appropriate remediation strategies. Our expert interpretation and recommendations, along with support from our Geo-Environmental Consultants, help you make informed decisions and manage risks effectively.

The primary regulation governing the management of contaminated land in the UK is the Land Contamination: Risk Management (LCRM) guidance. This guidance sets out a framework for identifying, assessing, and managing land contamination in a way that protects human health and the environment. Other relevant regulations include the Environmental Protection Act 1990, the Contaminated Land (England) Regulations 2006, and the Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations 2016.

Waste Acceptance Criteria (WAC) testing is used to determine how remediated waste may behave once it’s buried in a landfill. This type of testing differs from soil chemical testing, used to determine the presence and concentration of contaminants in soil samples. WAC testing cannot be used to determine whether a waste is hazardous or not; this requires contaminated land inspection and testing.
