HSG 274 recommends that inspections of cold-water storage tanks and calorifiers are carried out to determine the internal condition of these plant items; these inspections may result in the requirement for clean and disinfections. Disinfection may also be necessary for any positive samples that have been collected from the water system.

The cleaning and disinfection of cold water storage tanks should adhere to standards like BS EN 806-5:2012, BS 8558:2015, BS PD 855468:2015, and guidelines from the Drinking Water Inspectorate (DWI), ensuring compliance with WRAS regulations and Bylaw 30.

Lucion employs powerful alternatives such as chlorine dioxide, hydrogen peroxide, or silver-stabilised hydrogen peroxide, known to be highly effective against stubborn biofilm and legionella bacteria.

Utilising NexGen, our cloud-based compliance system, we store all on-site information, including before/after images and chemical details. The system exceeds the recommended record-keeping, saving client data indefinitely.

Sampling, recommended by HSG 274, ensures the success of the disinfection process. It should be conducted between 2 and 7 days post-disinfection to provide accurate results without interference from residual chemicals.
