Delta-Simons were employed to address and discharge the technical planning conditions to support the development of a waste wood biomass facility. The timescales for addressing conditions and getting to site were restricted due to the contractual deadlines for the commencement of the site operation, which was linked to the Renewables Obligation Certificates applications.

Scope of Works

  • Great Crested Newt mitigation and ecological enhancement strategy.
  • Arboricultural impact assessment and on-site management of tree protection.
  • Detailed air and noise modelling to inform planning consent amendments, building design and environmental permitting.
  • Landscape design including wildlife pond design.
  • Development new surface water drainage design.
  • Highway Access design.
  • Technical planning advice.
  • Liaison with Local Planning Authority including re-negotiation of planning conditions.

Outcomes / Client Benefit

  • Development of a new surface water strategy and ecological enhancement strategy that could negate the need for a dual function pond and minimise maintenance liabilities and land take.
  • Assisted to define surface water connection options whilst minimising impact on protected trees.
  • Reduced both the design and long-term maintenance liability costs of the drainage infrastructure.
  • De-risked the construction programme to ensure environmental planning requirements were considered.
  • Re-negotiation of planning conditions to make them more flexible for allowing construction to progress.
