Environmental Due Diligence for Supermarket Portfolio

Delta-Simons’ provided environmental due diligence and flood risk assessment support to Savills Investment Management (Savills IM) as part of their acquisition of a portfolio of 38 Rema 1000 supermarkets in urban locations across Denmark.

The objective of the Delta-Simons’ EDD Assessment was to provide Savills IM with advice on the potential for contaminated land and flood risk issues to impact on the transaction and provide pragmatic recommendations for reduction in risk, if necessary.

Scope of Works

Delta-Simons carried out the following scope of works within a timeframe of less than four weeks:

  • Review of publicly available and regulatory information including site setting, geological and hydrogeological mapping, site history, planning history and industrial land uses.
  • Review of historical contaminated land investigations and remediation measures implemented prior to the development of the assets.
  • Assessment of flood risk from all sources (tidal, fluvial, surface water, groundwater, and artificial sources) using publicly available information, including a review of ‘in-country’ flood data and mapping, topography, historical records and relevant third-party sources.

Outcomes / Client Benefit

The Client successfully acquired the portfolio with full knowledge of the potential risks from contaminated land and flood risk.
