Measured Building Survey to Support Martin House Hospice Renovation Plans

Share

Landform completes measured building survey to support Martin House Hospice renovation plans. In January 2019, Landform Surveys conducted a range of detailed surveys to inform a potential renovation project of Martin House Children’s Hospice in Boston Spa, Yorkshire.

The hospice opened their doors in 1987, becoming only the second children’s hospice in the world. As time went on, Martin House needed more space to properly meet the requirements of the children and was in the process of submitting a pre-application which proposed “refurbishment, reconfiguration and extension” of the building.

As part of this pre-application process, we carried out multiple measured building surveys across the hospice. From these surveys we produced detailed 3D Revit building models as can be seen in the images above.

We spent ten days surveying the hospice with a Trimble TX8 laser scanner, both internally and externally, to create an accurate point cloud model of the building. This was then modelled in Revit software to produce a 3D model of the building.

This was then passed on to the architects of the scheme so the detailed design could take place. Talking about the project, Eric Hinds said, ”This was possibly the most complex Revit model we have undertaken to date. The building was not a conventional shape and the internal layout was complex. Well done to Sean Buck, our Technical Manager, who produced a fantastic Revit model of the buildings which was well received by our client”.
